ILA/NYSA reach tentative local contract for ports of New York and New Jersey
The International Longshoremen's Association (ILA) and New York Shipping Association (NYSA) released a joint statement on March 7 announcing a tentative agreement for a local contract covering the ports of New York and New Jersey. The ILA's 200-member Wage and Scale Committee is meeting in Tampa, FL, from March 12-14. The focus of the meeting is to refine local contract issues and to review the tentative master contract reached in early February between the ILA and the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX). If the Committee approves of the master and local contracts, they will set a date for rank-and-file membership voting on the six-year contract covering all East and Gulf Coast ports.
