Founded in 1898, Rimowa began as a manufacturer of wood and leather travel cases in Cologne, Germany. Thirty-nine years later, the founder’s son, Richard Morszeck, developed the first aluminum shipping trunk, followed by ribbed aluminum suitcases in 1950. The production of lightweight, strong aluminum luggage carries on to today with current owner, Dieter Morszeck, who in 2000 developed the world’s first 100% polycarbonate case. “They are today’s lightest and strongest luggage for their capacity,” says Bob Brown. “Rimowa Salsa cases are extremely lightweight, extraordinarily strong, and provide the maximum packing volume.”

Rimowa’s polycarbonate luggage is available in the following series: Salsa, Tango, Tango Light, and Bolero. They manufacture aluminum/magnesium alloy luggage in the Topas and Topas Gold series and hybrid polycarbonate luggage with aluminum/magnesium frames in the Limbo and Samba series. In addition, Rimowa makes trolleys from carry-on size to 32”, with 2- or 4-wheel designs for rolling ease. Most current models are equipped with TSA locks for added security. While merchandise is stocked and delivered from New Jersey, all Rimowa cases are handmade near Cologne, Germany or outside Prague in the Czech Republic. “All our bags feature the high craftsmanship and styling Europeans are renowned for,” says Brown, “with old world construction and styling for years of hard service.”
