When Chelsey Owen and Henry Lin founded Chelsey Henry in 2004, they believed that there was a strong demand by women for smart, stylish business bags. The company carries an assortment of laptop bags, baby bags, overnight bags, and general totes, and recently introduced a series of small handbags and accessories. "Designed for a woman on the go, our bags are loaded with pockets, stylish details, and unexpected splashes of color," says Owen. "They inspire stylish, functional totes and luggage for the do-it-all woman and get her there prepared, organized, and in style."
Chelsey Henry's Work-to-Play Bag was showcased earlier this year in the New Products Pavilion at The Travel Goods Show, where press and retailers provided feedback that the bag was "very well thought out" and "clearly designed by women for women." The Ultimate Bag, which is the company's signature piece, now has a set of coordinating accessories, as well as an eye mask. In addition, Chelsey Henry applies a systematic product design approach that captures customer input from its consumer and channel advisory groups and then uses that input to drive design and product development with its technical designer. They then validate their product with their target customers in select local markets to ensure that they produce "compelling products."
