Committee opportunities allow TGA Members to become involved in the association and to network! To be placed on a TGA Committee, view the list of committees below and send an email to Michele Marini Pittenger at MMPtga@aol.com indicating the committee(s) you would be interested in serving on and your preference. Please note that you can serve on more than one committee. Generally, you must serve on a TGA Committee for two years to be considered for a seat on the TGA Board of Directors. Committee assignments for 2007-08 will be made by the end of June by the incoming Board Chair who will take office in June 2007.

Awards:

Generally meets by phone 3-4 times a year, and in person the day before the Show opens, to determine winners of the TGA Award, The Product Innovation Award and The Community Service Award based on nominations received from the industry-at-large. This Committee is active from January-March.

Executive Committee/Audit/Finance:

Members of this Committee are the Officers of the Board of Directors.

Government Relations:

Meets no more than once a year, usually at the Show. May be called on to comment on Government Relations issues via email or by phone.

Membership:

Generally meets when a membership issue is brought to the Board's attention. Meets no more than once a year, usually at the Show. May be called on to comment on Membership issues via email.

Nominating:

Members of the TGA Board of Directors who are responsible for collecting nominations for future Director seats and making recommendations to the Board. Once the Board approves the slate, it goes out to the Membership for a vote. The Chair of this Committee is generally the incoming Chair of the Board (Chair-Elect).

Publication:

Generally meets by phone when a publication issue is brought to the Board's attention. Committee members are asked to critique every issue of Travel Goods Showcase (5 times a year).

Show Committee:

This Committee can be TGA's most active, particularly if we have Show issues on the Board's agenda. Generally, this Committee is most active from June-September.
